*gasp* I can't believe I never started a Butch Walker thread! No board is complete without a Butch Walker thread! Here's a bit about da Man - taken from his myspace Bio: "my name is butch.. not really, but my real name bored me after 18 yrs so i changed it. i have a band called The Lets Go Out Tonites. lets get this straight... i am a solo artist, but i have a band. so when you stop me and say, you look like youre in a band, you are correct. but i record and perform as Butch Walker and the Lets Go Out Tonites. so dont seem so confused if i look like i am in a band but dont call myself something like Confessions on Bleeding Heart Sundays. i roll like the old guys.. Costello, Elton, Petty, etc... you see? its fucking simple. my last record is called the rise and fall of butch walker and the lets-go-out-tonites. yes its a play on the old bowie record. yes i misspelled tonite. yes you are a dumbass if any of this bothers you. yes its only rock-n-roll ...and i like it." Saw Butch in toronto friday night - fell in love with him all over again. He played several M3 songs, as well as his solo stuff....even covered Springsteen's Born to Run! Butch's myspace: www.myspace.com/butchwalkerwebsite: www.ButchWalker.comand of course www.WalkerStalkers.com

Found his old bio....oh how I love this man!
THE BIO of....ME (from butchwalker.com) When I was growing up, it was all about metal... When I wanted to go see AC/DC with my friends, my mother (who I love dearly) said "you can't go see AC/DC in concert! The devil dances on stage with them every night!" I said,"AWESOME!" I was hooked on hard rock ever since.
While i was still a kid, I left Cartersville, Ga. with my clubbing cash, moved to LA and took my band with me. We were signed to a major label record deal 10 months later, making a record with a hot producer, and a video with the guy who did all those dumb Aerosmith videos, we were unstoppable, until we were, um... stoppable. I ended up ditching the whole concept and went DIY that's "do it yourself" for all of you freshmen, yo. I can see the cock rock rehab program slogan now; "This program Will Take You From 'Firehouse' To FireHOSE in 90 Days," or "Down With Winger... Up With Weezer!" I put THE MARVELOUS 3 (R.I.P.) together, and within a year of playing a few sold out shows around the southeast (and a lot of empty ones too,) 99X, a big station in Atlanta started playing a song of ours (on our indie release) called "Freak of the Week" on their station. (The song was ironically about coming to terms with selling out... funny.) It blew up. I broke up the band, cut all my ties, had one hell of a nervous breakdown, and went UG in the 2K for a while (that's "underground" in 2000..dawg...).
I was doing fine, living off of my pension from the big hit song, and i started getting asked to write and produce with other groups around the country. some of these went on to have bigger hits and sales than i did. After that my ego was too big to sit in a studio, so I made my own record. I recorded about 45 songs, which I mostly hated, but managed to find a few that I liked. I signed a record deal, the record (which I wrote, performed, recorded and produced) was called LEFT OF SELF CENTERED... It sold 5 copies I think.. let's cut to now.. I just finished work on my new record called "Letters" (droppin' in the 08/2004 on Epic records.. Peace out, one love, yada...). The first single and video is for a song called "Mixtape." a live acoustic cd from the last US tour, and a live DVD is in the works from it as well. lots of cool shit.
Oh, I guess I should mention (to create a "story"), that I just produced and co-wrote for a bunch of people you may or may not like... Avril Lavigne, Simple Plan, Midtown, Sevendust, American, HiFi The Donnas .... Pretty cool people and all worked with me because of my drinking skills. Hell yeah! It's true! I like song writing. I like recording songs. I like performing them. I like doing it. I will always do it. So if you like my shit, I will keep putting it out... that last part actually sounds sort of gross. see ya later. -Butch

The show was amazing! Wishing I could take in a couple shows in Florida - both are miles from my family but its not in the cards. Sad to think he won't be hitting the road anytime soon. I have a feeling he'll pop up here and there! Here are a couple of pics.... Who else can get a crowd to sit on the floor of a bar for a cozy little "campfire"? Or look this hot rolling around on he stage:

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Butch, but he never seems to come near me!!! I bought his latest CD (the rise & fall of...) the day it came out and it DID NOT dissappoint. My favorite song on the cd is most deffinitely the Taste of Red

Taste of Red has to be one of my faves off the new CD as well. After waiting 14 months, I finally saw him again April 6th. (Not sure where you live, but he never plays near me either so i have to travel each time) He played Indie Queen and Taste of Red (2 of my fave songs) back to back. *sighs*
Because I'm impulsive, sick of the weather and missing my family, I decided to head to Florida for Butch's last 2 shows - I'll be rockin with my daughters at the Orlando HOB show and flyin solo for the Lauderdale show.

I've never seen either of those performed live. Would love to see him do the Queen Medley or Vampires in Love (for some reason I can't get this song outta my head!) Was shocked and pleasantly surprised to hear Over Your Head, Far Away From Close and Stateline live this time around. Butch says these are his last two shows for awhile and if you're on some of the boards there is a bit of panic - I can't imagine he will stay outta clubs for long. Can't wait to hear the 1969 stuff! He seems to always hit Cleveland and Toronto - thats were I will be next tour!

Cleveland and TO I could most deffinitely try to get to, they're close enough, stateline has to be AMAZING live idk that song is so intense i'd love it. I guess him not touring for a while will give me time to get my license haha, so I can actually get out & travel!

Stateline was awesome - Sober is another one that always blows me away. Lights Out and Uncomfortably Numb are totally rockin live.
Good LUCK! Look forward to rockin with ya!

Really? I thought I have a video of a show from the UK but now that I think about it, that was probably "Letters" era.
Saw Butch again in Orlando with my daughters Sun night (my youngest made me proud - she seized the opportunity to jump up to the railing - singing and dancing along all night) and again in Ft. Lauderdale last night. *sighs* Both shows were good but last night was amazing!

If it makes you feel any better I have only met one real live person who knows who Butch is. Everyone else I met online. But as I confirmed last night - Butch fans are the best! I am still trying to recover from last night. Hope to post a blog & a few pics later. Did I mention my camera died during the show? After that I just decided to surrender - made my way to the front of the floor and let myself get swept up in the mayhem of Lights Out and the campfire portion of the encore.
Butch, band and crew ended up at the bar we were at last night - when you're singing Skid Row @ 2am, eating pizza @ 3am and taking a cab home after 4am - its definately been a goo'd night!
